SDI is assisting with selecting and implementing web-based systems and card technologies, and designing a comprehensive tenant portal. Along with advanced web-based technologies, the 353 project is taking an integrated technology systems approach that is relatively new in the commercial real estate industry, and a change from traditional design practices used in high rise buildings. “Rather than viewing systems as separate components, they now become part of a single, converged, IP-based technology infrastructure,” states SDI Senior Consultant Thomas Condon. “This allows systems to interact with older technologies to a greater extent, providing a much richer, far more functional user experience. Tenants can now interact with the building through a web portal that allows them to enter building work requests, manage their visitors, and even order catering for large office events.” Condon further notes that, “in order to realize these efficiencies, it becomes essential to have an understanding of the building’s entire technology landscape and to then coordinate the disparate systems into a cohesive whole.”
